We investigate the transient two-photon absorption property in a n-doped three-level semiconductor quantum well system. It is shown that the intensities and detunings of the optical fields can affect the two-photon absorption spectra dramatically, which can be used to suppress or enhance the two-photon absorption coefficient. The dependence of two-photon absorption property on the relative phase of three optical fields is also discussed. Our study is much more practical than its atomic counterpart due to its flexible design and new characters. Thus, it may provide some new possibilities for technological applications.
Research highlights
► The transient and steady-state two-photon absorption spectra can be easily controlled by adjusting an external coherent coupling field.
► The dependence of two-photon absorption property on the relative phase of three optical fields is also studied.
► Our study is much more practical than its atomic counterpart because of its flexible design and the wide tunable parameters.
