We present a detailed analysis of the exciton transport through a Mach–Zehnder interferometer type nanocrystal ring array. The transmittance of the exciton-wave throughout the interferometer ring is shown to have a strong dependence on the Coulomb coupling between nanocrystals, sites energies, and the number of nanocrystals in the part of interferometer arms. We discuss the transmission characteristics of the exciton-wave depending on the constitution of the Mach–Zehnder interferometer ring. The analysis shows that the system can be exploited as a nano-sensor for probing nano-optical environment or a nano-optical switching device in near field optical circuits or waveguides.
► We analyze exciton transport through a Mach–Zehnder interferometer type NC array.
► We evaluate transmission coefficient of the exciton-wave through the interferometer.
► The exciton-wave transmittance is inhibited or enhanced depending on the ring chosen.
► The result can be utilized for the design of nano-optical sensor.
