Thermodynamics of a quasi-two-dimensional electron gas: Effects of magnetic fields, temperature and finite width

► Finite thickness changes the properties of an electron gas confined in a plane region. ► The finite thickness might give to electron gas a multiband character. ► The two-dimensional behavior is verified for Q2DEG with thicknesses below a critical value. ► The critical thickness is obtained from the analysis of different physical quantities. ► Thick Q2DEG might have properties of a system that is not two dimensional, but it is not three dimensional either.
