Luminescence of Zn4In2O7 nanobelts and microplates synthesized by a thermal evaporation–deposition method, has been investigated by photoluminescence (PL) and cathodoluminescence (CL) in the scanning electron microscope (SEM). Time resolved and temperature dependent CL measurements show that an emission at 2.37 eV appears to be characteristic of the Indium–Zinc–Oxide (IZO) compound investigated. PL and waveguiding behavior of the microplates is described. Raman spectra of the structures as a function of In content has been studied.
► Zn4In2O7 nanobelts and microplates show a new 5.6 ms lifetime emission at 2.37 eV.
► Zn4In2O7 microplates present waveguiding behavior.
► We report micro-Raman preliminary study on Zn4In2O7 structures for the first time.
