Hydrogen absorption study of high-energy reactive ball milled Mg composites with palladium additives

► High-energy reactive ball milling in H2 of Mg with amorphous and crystalline Pd black. ► Only crystalline Pd black improves hydrogenation/dehydrogenation performances. ► The modest improvements are associated with the formation of Mg-Pd intermetallides.
