Joining and interface characterization of in situ reinforced silicon nitride

► AS800 Si3N4 brazed using oxidation-resistant, high use-temperature braze Cu-ABA. ► Interface enriched in Ti and Si but not in Y, La, and Sr (from Y2O3, La2O3 and SrO). ► Rapid early-stage kinetic evident in constant layer thickness, composition with time. ► Highly textured large grains of Cu and features associated with plastic deformation.
