Kinetics of tri-axial and spatial residual stress relaxation: Study by synchrotron radiation diffraction in a 2014Al alloy

► Method to study high temperature deformation of metallic alloys from the relaxation process of the tri-axial and spatial residual stress state. ► Assessment of the method using measurement conducted by synchrotron radiation diffraction on cylindrical samples quenched from high temperature. ► The method extends the present capability of uni-axial creep tests, and deepens the possible influence of microstructural gradients.
