Composite behaviour of MgH2 and complex hydride mixtures synthesized by ball milling

▶ MgH2-LiAlH4 and NaBH4-MgH2 hydride composites can be synthesized by ball milling. ▶ Hydride compositing decreases desorption temperature of high temperature component. ▶ Hydrogen desorption in the hydride composites involves two steps. ▶ The thermodynamic destabilization can be an effect of solid solution formation. ▶ Both phenomena catalytic influence and intermetallic phase formation can be observed.
