The effect of Mn2+Co2+Zr4+ substitution on complex permeability, permittivity and microwave absorption has been studied for BaFe12−x(Mn0.5Co0.5Zr)x/2O19 ferrite–polyvinylchloride (PVC) composites, where x varies from 0 to 3 in steps of 1, in frequency range from 15 to 20 GHz. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), ac susceptometer, vibrating sample magnetometer, and vector network analyzer were used to analyze the structures, electromagnetic and microwave absorption properties. The results showed that, the magnetoplumbite structures for all samples have been formed. The samples having higher magnetic susceptibility and coercivity exhibit a larger microwave absorbing ability. Based on microwave measurement on reflectivity, BaFe12−x(Mn0.5Co0.5Zr)x/2O19 may be a good candidate for electromagnetic compatibility and other practical applications at high frequency.
