Rapid photocatalytic degradation of crystal violet dye over ZnO flower nanomaterials

► A simple solution method is employed for the direct synthesis of ZnO-flowers. ► It is utilized as photocatalyst for the degradation of crystal violet (Cv) dye. ► A very fast degradation of Cv-dye with a degradation rate of ∼96% within 80 min has been observed. ► Mass spectroscopy of Cv-dye confirms the complete mineralization after 80 min under light illumination.
