Intrinsic growth of layered structure GaS microtubes from banana-leaf like structures

► GaS microtube arrays fabricated on Ga metal surface by a self catalytic vapor deposition process. ► Growth of GaS nano and microstructures followed its intrinsic layered crystal structure. ► Initially GaS banana-leaf like structures formed that split into thin flakes. ► Final realization of microtubes happened by scroll-like rolling of the flakes.
