Upregulation of thromboxane synthase mediates visfatin-induced interleukin-8 expression and angiogenic activity in endothelial cells

► Thromboxane synthase (TXAS) mediates visfatin-induced IL-8 induction and angiogenesis. ► Visfatin induces the expression of TXAS and release of TXA2 in endothelial cells. ► Upregulation of TXAS by visfatin mediates endothelial IL-8 production. ► Blockade of TXAS-dependent IL-8 production inhibits visfatin-induced angiogenesis.
