Nitric oxide - A versatile key player in cochlear function and hearing disorders
چکیده انگلیسی
► Nitric oxide is widely involved in inner ear pathophysiology. ► Nitric oxide regulates the gap-junction-systems, blood vessels and synaptic areas. ► The role of NO in different cochlear cell types is discussed. ► A correlation between increased NO-production and hearing loss is described. ► Ascorbic acid, dexamethasone and doxycycline reveal cytoprotection in the inner ear.
