Immunological role of thiol-dependent peroxiredoxin gene in Macrobrachium rosenbergii

► An antioxidant MrPrdx gene from Macrobrachium rosenbergii has been identified. ► MrPrdx has been characterized at molecular level. ► MrPrdx contains a thioredoxin domain along with the signature motifs. ► Gene expression was stimulated with virus and is up-regulated in gills. ► A peroxidise activity assays were conducted using recombinant MrPrdx protein.
