Syndrome de Demons-Meigs avec élévation importante du CAÂ 125

The authors report and discuss an observation of a Meigs' syndrome in a 56-year-old woman. The diagnosis of Meigs' syndrome was suggested due to concomitant right pleural effusion with ascitis and a right abdominal mass measuring 80 × 60 mm. The serum CA 125 rate was 552 UI/ml. Surgical exploration revealed a serohematic ascitis of 1 L without any suspicious peritoneal lesion and a bulky ovarian fibrothecoma. One month later pleural effusion disappeared and the CA 125 level decreased to 43 UI/ml. Prognosis of Meigs' syndrome is good. Surgical excision of the ovarian mass is responsible for the disappearance of pleural and peritoneal effusions.
