3D ultrasound has recently improved with the VOCAL software (volume calcification). This new ultrasound tool obtains the volume of an organ or a tissue. Then the voxels can be digitally stored and analysed off-line. With power Doppler, the entire vascularity of a tissue or an organ is evaluated (3D-PDA). Vascularity index are automatically calculated with the VOCAL software. Two main applications are the assisted reproductive technique (ART) and tumor pathology (endometrium, ovary, and breast) due to the importance of angiogenesis. First results are promising but must be confirmed.
