Ultrasound imaging of the ulnar nerve: Correlation of preoperative and intraoperative dimensions

The diameter of the ulnar nerve as determined sonographically suggesting ulnar neuropathy does not correspond with the anatomically determined actual diameter. The maximal diameter can be best estimated with transverse scans.
