Ética y ciencia

ResumenSe presentan algunas definiciones sobre la naturaleza de la Ética y sobre lo que se entiende por ciencia.Ambas nociones permiten interrogarnos sobre la existencia o no, de una vinculación ética de la ciencia.Se busca diferenciar lo sustentado durante la gran parte del siglo xx, donde la actividad científica quedaba exenta de toda valoración ética.Los argumentos actuales sostenidos en las publicaciones dedicadas a la filosofía de la ciencia señalan la imposibilidad de separar los hechos científicos de sus consecuencias éticas.Las tecnociencias están constituidas por «sistemas de acciones intencionales» que incluyen a personas que, deliberadamente, buscan ciertos fines con determinados intereses, lo cual implica que estos agentes ponen en juego creencias, conocimientos, valores y normas. Esta forma de acción humana es susceptible de ser juzgada moralmente.Se recuerda la existencia de un paralelismo entre las transformaciones de la realidad originadas por el desarrollo tecnológico y los cambios en los criterios éticos sobre las acciones humanas. Existen diferencias entre las éticas precedentes, limitadas a regular las relaciones entre los hombres (éticas antropocéntricas) y las éticas actuales referidas a las transformaciones tecnológicas que generan riesgos globales que ponen en peligro la existencia humana.En conclusión, las tecnociencias no pueden ni deben ser moralmente neutrales.

There are presented some definitions on the nature of Ethics and about what it is understood by Science.Both notions lead us to question whether there is connection between them.The objective is to consider the ideas up to a short time ago, the neutrality of Science as regards to Ethics.A differentiation is searched nowadays, a differentiation that was not maintained during most part of the last century, stage where the scientific activity was exempted of ethical values.The maintained arguments in contemporary publications in the Philosophy of the Science point out the impossibility of separating the scientific facts from its ethical consequences.Techno-sciences are built by “Systems of Intentional Actions” that include people who deliberately look for certain accomplishments with determined interests. Therefore these agents unfold their knowledge, norms, beliefs and values.Human actions are to be judged with moral standards, having in mind the existence of a parallelism among the transformations of reality originated by technological development and the changes on human actions based on ethical standards.There are differences between precedent ethics limited to a moral regulation among men (anthropocentric-ethics) and the present ethics referred to the technological trans formation and the global risks that put in danger the human existence.In conclusion: the techno-sciences can’t and shoudńt be ethically neutral.
