L'épilepsie associée aux tumeurs cérébrales

Specific relationships exist between brain tumors and epilepsy: tumors frequently induce seizures, with variability depending on the tumor type, and tumor causes are not uncommon in adult-onset epilepsy. While seizures are a common inaugural sign of brain tumors, seizure recurrence or even drug resistance may be a specific disorder associated with the oncological disease. Epilepsy progresses during tumor disease. There are specific features of epilepsy management directly related to interactions with cancer treatments. We describe here the epidemiological links between brain tumors and epilepsy, the clinical characteristics of seizures, their diagnosis, the principles and rules of the antiepileptic drug management, and the effects of cancer treatment on epilepsy.
