Fibromatosis Gingival Hereditaria en Niños. Caso Clínico

ResumenLa Fibromatosis Gingival Hereditaria (FGH) es un agrandamiento de los tejidos gingivales poco frecuente, asociado a un componente genético, que se hace evidente en el momento del recambio dentario. Puede generar diastemas, maloclusiones, dolor a la masticación, caries, enfermedad periodontal, retardo en el recambio dentario, complicaciones fonéticas, de deglución y un importante compromiso estético y sicológico.Paciente sexo femenino, 6 años de edad, con aumento de volumen gingival generalizado que compromete la estética y la función. Presenta retraso en la erupción de dientes permanentes. Con antecedentes familiares de agrandamiento gingival. Se realiza el tratamiento periodontal quirúrgico y odontopediátrico bajo anestesia general.El diagnóstico precoz y el tratamiento oportuno de la FGH, son fundamentales para evitar complicaciones posteriores, más aún considerando la alta tasa de recidiva de FGH en pacientes jóvenes.

Hereditary Gingival Fibromatosis (HGF) is a rare gingival enlargement associated to a genetic condition. The onset of the disease it makes evident during the eruption of permanent dentition. It could bring complications like diastemas, maloclussions, painful mastication, dental caries, periodontal diseases, delayed eruption, phonetic difficulties, swallow complications and important esthetic and psychological problems.A six years old female child shows a generalized gingival increase volumen that involves the esthetic and function. She shows a delayed eruption of permanent incisors. There are familiar antecedents of gingival enlargement. Surgical Peridontal and Odontopediatric treatment under general anesthetic are made.The early diagnosis and the opportune treatment of FGH are fundamental to avoid future complications, even more considering the high relapse rate of FGH in young patients.
