Class II malocclusion and sleep-disordered breathing

Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) is gradually being recognized today as having significant health implications for individuals who are suffering from this condition and especially those who remain undiagnosed and may not be receiving the necessary treatment. Today, more attention is being directed to identifying potential risk factors that contribute to individuals developing this condition. Moreover, it has been established that certain craniofacial morphological characteristics have been associated with SDB. This article discusses the diagnostic, treatment planning, and informed consent considerations involved in managing the Class II malocclusion with considerations related to SDB.
