Craniofacial Anomalies and Quality of Life

The quality of life (QoL) is challenged in individuals with craniofacial anomalies (CFA) as a result of impaired function, appearance, and social integration as well as extensive treatments. Although psychopathology is not commonly associated with CFA, psychological problems have been reported. Problems causing the lack of scientific information on the QoL in CFA are the low prevalence of CFA and the use of different non-condition-specific measurement instruments. Recently an internationally validated condition-specific instrument (COHIP) has been developed to measure QoL in CFA, which will hopefully enhance the current status of information.
