Unusual presentation of a renal cell carcinoma

A breast mass as the presenting feature of an extramammary malignancy is unusual. Metastatic tumours to the breast account for less than 1% of all breast malignancies. Exceptionally rarely is the breast lesion the presenting symptom of a renal cell carcinoma. This report describes the clinical and imaging findings of metastatic breast disease from a renal cell carcinoma. We highlight the importance of preoperative image guided biopsy of breast masses ensuring appropriate treatment and avoiding radical surgery.
