La TEP/TDM au FDG a-t-elle un impact dans la prise en charge des patients atteints d’un cancer du canal anal ?

RésuméButÉvaluer l’impact de la TEP/TDM au FDG sur la prise en charge du patient adressé pour la stadification et/ou le suivi d’un cancer anal.Patients et méthodesNous avons inclus les patients adressés dans le service pour cancer du canal anal dont la prise en charge thérapeutique était évaluable grâce à un suivi d’au moins six mois.RésultatsLes résultats de 44 patients ont été analysés : 22 avaient eu un examen TEP/TDM pour la stadification initiale et 36 dans le suivi. La TEP/TDM a eu un impact chez neuf patients sur 44 (20 %) et il était pertinent chez huit d’entre eux.ConclusionLa TEP/TDM est une modalité d’imagerie fiable pour le cancer du canal anal, en particulier dans le suivi en cas de suspicion de persistance ou de récidive de la maladie où son impact sur la prise en charge du patient a été le plus net.

PurposeTo evaluate the impact of FDG PET/CT on the management of patients referred for the staging and/or the follow-up of anal carcinoma, and PET/CT on patient management.Patients and methodsWe included patients referred to our department for anal carcinoma whose therapeutic management was evaluable thanks to follow-up data during at least 6 months.ResultsData of 44 patients were analysed: 22 had PET/CT for initial staging and 36 during follow-up. PET/CT had impact in nine patients out of 44 (20%) and it was relevant in eight of them.ConclusionFDG PET/CT is an accurate imaging modality in anal cancer, its impact on patient management is more obvious when persistence or recurrence of disease is suspected.
