Assessment of the production potential of an emerging Artemia population in the Aral Sea, Uzbekistan

► Artemia productivity in Uzbek part of Aral Sea is low due to food limitation. ► By 2007 eastern Large Aral had virtually ceased to exist as open water body. ► By 2007 the western Large Aral showed moderately increasing productivity. ► Aral Sea is approaching threshold for small-scale commercial exploitation.
