Effects of the fabric on the relationship between aggregate stability and color in a Regosol-Umbrisol soilscape

► Soil fabric, aggregate stability, and color from 75 samples. ► Aggregate stability is related to soil redness, darkness, and chromaticity. ► 40% of variability in stability cannot be statistically explained by color. ► Color indicates aggregate stability caused by surface binding-agents. ► Color cannot detect stability caused by inner particle arrangements.
