In situ determination of Soil carbon pool by inelastic neutron scattering: Comparison with dry combustion

► We demonstrated the utility of an INS system for soil analysis in mixed soil types. ► A single calibration line was created that included analysis from mixed fields. ► INS with a single measurement (scan) can average carbon level over transect. ► Data with better statistics is required for improved conversion of INS readings to conventional units. ► Advanced quantitative spectral analysis would improve the results from the INS system.
