Failure of landslide stabilization measures: The Sidi Rached viaduct case (Constantine, Algeria)

► Sidi Rached bridge landslide is analyzed with field observations and previous documentation. ► Disturbances continuously affect the eastern bridge abutment since its construction in 1910. ► The bridge eastern part has been installed on unstable marls and the rest on stable limestones. ► Instability is a slow translational landslide, but with devastating long term effects. ► Stabilization measures had no lasting effect and a multidisciplinary study is recommended.
