Ruthemium polypyridyl complexes disaggregate the fibrils of human islet amyloid polypeptide into nano scale particles through hydrophobic interaction and metal coordination, and decrease the peptide induced cytotoxicity. The binding is an exothermic process with increased entropy effect.62
