Syntheses and structures of square planar diplatinum butadiynediyl complexes with two different monophosphine ligands on each terminus; probing the feasibility of a new type of inorganic atropisomerism

The heterocoupling of platinum chloride and butadiynyl complexes (cat. CuI, HNEt2) gives the title complexes, but with scrambling of the two unlike phosphine ligands on each precursor over all four positions (5-6 isomers). These are separated and structurally characterized, but low temperature NMR spectra do not reveal any dynamic processes.178
