Antifungal saponins from bulbs of garlic, Allium sativum L. var. Voghiera

► Ten furostanol saponins were isolated from Voghiera garlic. ► Eugenol diglycosides were reported in garlic for the first time. ► Antimicrobial activity of voghierosides were detected against Botrytis and Trichoderma. ► The activity increased with saponin concentration. ► The activity is inversely proportional to number of sugars.
