γ-Conglutin, the Lupinus albus XEGIP-like protein, whose expression is elicited by chitosan, lacks of the typical inhibitory activity against GH12 endo-glucanases

The expression of γ-conglutin during seed germination can be elicited by treatment with chitosan. This strengthen the hypothesis of an actual role of the proteins in plant defence mechanisms. Despite structurally belonging to the XEGIP protein family, this lupin protein does not display any inhibitory activity against the representative endo-glucanase belonging to GH12 family and the other enzymes tested.
