Polysaccharides from Sargassum tenerrimum: Structural features, chemical modification and anti-viral activity

A guluronic acid-rich alginate (B) and a fucoidan (C) extracted from Sargassum tenerrimum are inhibitor of herpes simplex virus type 1, whereas their sulfated derivatives (BS and CS) show higher activity.
