Theoretical studies on pyrolysis mechanism of xylopyranose

► Xylan is the most relevant component in hemicellulose. ► The pyrolysis processes of xylopyranose are investigated theoretically by using DFT. ► Five possible pyrolytic pathways were proposed in xylopyranose pyrolysis. ► The standard kinetic parameters in all pathways were calculated.
