Interplay between ion-π and Ar/π Van der Waals interactions

► We theoretically studied synergistic effects between ion-pi and Van der Waals interactions. ► We used SCS-RIMP2, CCSD(T) and SAPT calculations with aug-cc-pCVTZ basis set. ► The synergetic effect is mainly due to an enhancement of the induction term for the ion-pi/Ar complexes.
