DFT study on the abstraction and addition of Cl atom with toluene

► The abstraction and addition of Cl atom with toluene were study for the first time. ► The calculated rate constant showing good agreement with experimental results. ► H-abstraction is the dominate channel for Cl-toluene reaction at high temperatures.
