A series of phosphors Y2MoO6:Eu3+ with different Eu3+ contents were synthesized using a solid-state reaction technique at high-temperature. The phase purity, surface morphology, compositional and elemental analysis as well as photoluminescence properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopic (SEM), fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), energy dispersive X-ray spectra (EDS), and fluorescence spectroscopy (FS) measurements, respectively. The luminescence characteristics in the excitation and emission spectrum were studied and analyzed, and the schematic diagrams of energy transfer of Y2MoO6:Eu3+ was structured. The efficient energy transfer from Mo6+-O2â group to Eu3+ leads to the red light emission of Eu3+ upon near ultraviolet excitation. The influence of the doping concentration on the relative emission intensity of Eu3+ was investigated. The critical distance Rc and energy transfer mechanism for the concentration quenching of Eu3+ was calculated and discussed in details.
