A new red emitting phosphor: La2SrB10O19:Eu3+

► A new red phosphor, La2SrB10O19:Eu3+ (LSB:Eu) has been prepared by solid-state reaction method. ► LSB:Eu has the strongest absorption in near-UV region (at 395 nm) and the second strongest one in blue region (at 465 nm). ► LSB:Eu can emit bright red light at about 616 nm (5D0-7F2) under near-UV excitation. ► Eu3+ ions occupy both La3+ and Ca2+ sites in LSB crystal. ► The optimum concentration for Eu3+ in LSB is high up to 30 mol%.
