Ionoluminescence induced by 3Â MeV He+ ions on as-grown and pre-damaged BaMgF4 crystals

► Ionoluminescence yields have been studied on BaMgF4 crystals using a He probe beam. ► The crystals were pre-damaged using various fluences of bromine ions at 15 MeV. ► Good correlation was found between the IL yield and the structural damage.
