Influence of argon ambience on the structural, morphological and optical properties of pulsed laser ablated zinc sulfide thin films

► All the films prepared under argon ambience show the presence of rhombohedral phase. ► All the films show a blue shift in optical band gap. ► Film deposited at Ar pressure 20 Pa shows a self-assembly of grain in regular patterns. ► PL spectra of the films for excitation wavelength of 325 nm show an intense yellow emission.
