Emission analysis of Sm3+ and Dy3+: Ba3Y2WO9 ceramics

► Sm3+ and Dy3+: BaYW ceramics were prepared by solid state reaction method. ► Sm3+: BaYW ceramics have shown an intense reddish-orange color emission. ► Dy3+: BaYW ceramics have shown an intense blue color emission. ► The nature of the transitions observed in the emission spectra is explained. ► Phenomenon of concentration quenching has been clearly discussed.
