Luminescent properties of cobalt-doped α-ZnAl2S4 spinel type single crystals

► Spinel-type crystals of α-ZnAl2S4:Co grown by chemical transport reaction. ► Absorption and luminescent properties of α-ZnAI2S4:Co are investigated. ► The spectra are assigned to the transitions of Co2+ ions in tetrahedral sites.
