Photoluminescence properties of Ca9Lu(PO4)7:Ce3+, Mn2+ prepared by conventional solid-state reaction

► We found a promising red-emitting phosphor Ca9Lu(PO4)7:Ce3+, Mn2+. ► It shows a broad emission band from 580 nm to 720 nm. ► The energy transfer mechanism from the Ce3+ to Mn2+ ions is a dipole-quadrupole interaction.
