Photoluminescence characterization of a novel red-emitting phosphor In2(MoO4)3:Eu3+ for white light emitting diodes

► A novel red-emitting phosphor In2(MoO4)3:Eu3+ for LEDs was synthesized. ► The phosphor can emit red light under the excitation by UV or blue LEDs. ► The PL intensity achieves the maximum when the concentration of Eu3+ is 40 mol%. ► Concentration self-quenching of Eu3+ excited at 466 nm is due to dd interaction.
