The photoluminescence, afterglow and up conversion photostimulated luminescence of Eu3+ doped Mg2SnO4 phosphors

► Novel Mg2SnO4:Eu3+ with red PL, green AG and PSL is obtained. ► Doping of Eu3+ increases the host related AG and decreases PSL. ► Effect of doping Eu3+ on luminescence of Mg2SnO4 is clarified. ► Oxygen vacancies are revealed to be the key factors.
