Specific salt effects on the hydrolysis reaction rate of tropolone tosylate in binary MeCN-H2O media containing n-Bu4NOH

The observed changes in log (k/s− 1) for the hydrolysis of tropolone tosylate in 50% (v/v) MeCN-H2O media in the presence of various kinds of salts are significant. Both NaN3 (▼) and Ba(ClO4)2 (∆) have exhibited a remarkable and apparently linear rate acceleration, while both Ca(ClO4)2 (▲) and LiClO4 (○) caused rate deceleration.
