Mercury selective potentiometric sensor based on low rim functionalized thiacalix [4]-arene as a cationic receptor

► A low rim functionalized thiacalix [4]-arene has been used as a cationic receptor. ► This showed remarkable selective response to mercury(II) ion. ► The electrode was successfully employed as an indicator electrode in titration with EDTA.
