Enhancement in the thermal stability of the mesophases of 4-n-(decyloxy) benzoic acid due to Li ion beam irradiation

► LC compound 4-n-decyloxy benzoic acid has been irradiated by Li ion beam. ► Irradiation shows stabilization of the phases. ► Change in permittivity due to irradiation shows reversal in N and SmC phases. ► Ionic conductivity increases due to irradiation. ► UV-Vis spectra of the irradiated material show an additional peak.
