De-coloration of hazardous dye from water system using chemically modified Ficus carica adsorbent

► Ficus carica fiber was chemically modified with acrylic acid using initiator. ► The adsorption equilibrium was represented with different isotherm models. ► Adsorption of methylene blue followed intraparticle diffusion model. ► The desorption experiment showed that 60.04% of the dye was recovered.
