Solubilization and catalytic behavior of micellar system based on gemini surfactant with hydroxyalkylated head group

►Properties of geminis with oxyethylated head group are elucidated. ►The hydrogen bonds favor micellization and the solubilization of reagents. ►The correlation between the rate of esters hydrolysis and their solubility occurs. ►The catalytic effect of hydrolysis reached three orders of magnitude is observed. ►Catalysis by geminis occurs within extremely low concentration range.
